Mother-in-Law Crashed Last Night

My in-laws were riding their bikes to a weekly time trial last night, when my mother-in-law had a big crash. They were going down a large hill on the bike path next to the road, and she hit a lip of pavement between a side street and the path. Her back tire blew out and threw her over the bike at speed.

They sat in the emergency room for a couple hours last night before Mom got x-rays. She had pain in her neck, a possible broken collar bone and some bad road rash on her shoulder.

This morning, I’m happy to report that she did not break any bones! She’s going to hurt for a while, but it’s just going to take time to heal.

I’m so thankful that things did not turn out worse!

  1. Wow! I'm glad she's okay! I can remember riding around a service road at a local wildlife refuge with my mom and dad many moons ago - my mom somehow lost her balance and fell over, gashing her knee pretty badly on the gravel road. Luckily, I had my first aid kit handy so I got her all fixed up. Good thing I don't get faint at the sight of blood!

  4. That's really scary! Glad your mother-in-law is OK though and hope she's feeling better soon! That's great that she didn't break any bones at least.

My husband and I were caught in the rain after dark recently about 2 miles from home and all I could think about was hitting something and going flying into traffic (luckily I didn't)! The street we were on is narrow and even though it does have some streetlights, it's extremely dark in the rain and has very few markings and no reflectors. It also has those stupid vertical grates which scare me.
